under mostly dismal skies to be restored to all today Herald staff
Most of Tuesday proved to be gray, drizzly and a little stormy as people worked to clean up damage from the wicked weather that ripped through the area the day before. Power outages, downed trees and flooding were the most common problems in the aftermath of the storm. Pennsylvania Power Co. crews worked to remove downed trees and restore power to about 26,000 people, said Randy J. Coleman, the utility's area manager. As of 9 p.m. Tuesday about 4,000 customers in Mercer County were still without power, Coleman said. He said 1,800 people lost their electric service in the brief storm that passed through the area Tuesday afternoon. A total of 750 people were working in a six-county area, the bulk of them in Mercer County, Coleman said. He said 42 tree-trimming crews had been called in. |
