By Patrecka F. Adams Herald Staff Writer Wilmington Area School Board members made a decision Monday night that will end up costing the district an extra $40,000 for its more than $3 million football stadium. Kenneth W. Holsopple, a representative for the company building the stadium -- Eckles Architecture -- told school directors that a detention pond for stormwater runoff must be moved or made deeper. The original plans called for the stormwater from the football field to flow into the detention area on the east side of the high school; however, that area is insufficient, Holsopple said. Plans were changed to reroute the water into a detention pond near the baseball fields, but that wasn't approved by the Mercer County Conservation District before the board awarded a contract for the work. |
