A little red-haired orphan named Annie once sang, "The sun will come out tomorrow," and that is just what officials at the Jefferson Township Fair are hoping will happen.

Though the fair opened Wednesday evening, the weather kept people away for the second night in a row.

What started as sprinkles at about 5 p.m. had turned to a steady rain by 6.

The annual firemen's parade went on as scheduled -- a day late and in the rain -- but only a handful of people were there to watch. A few amusement rides had been put up but didn't have the chance to run. By 7:45, treasurer Barb McWilliams said, fair officials were starting to shut down for the night.
