Car-pickup crash kills woman,
leaves at least 3 others injured

A Sharon woman was killed in a two-vehicle accident at about 7 p.m. Friday at North Neshannock and Lamor roads in Hermitage, police said.

Brandee M. Simpson, 19, of 612 N. Water Ave., was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:21 p.m. by Mercer County Deputy Chief Coroner Dr. Charles Zeigler, according to Coroner Bradley J. McGonigle III.

At least three other people were injured and taken to local hospitals, police said. No other information about the injured was available.

McGonigle said Ms. Simpson was sitting in the rear seat of a car traveling east on Lamor. The driver failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection and the car was broadsided by a pickup traveling south on Neshannock, he said.

McGonigle said Ms. Simpson, who wasn't wearing a seat belt, died of blunt force trauma to the head and ruled the death accidental. McGonigle also said they do not suspect any alcohol was involved. No other details were available, police said, because investigators were still at the scene at about 9:30 p.m.
