FEMA can help flood victims

Gov. Bob Taft announced Friday that President Bush approved federal assistance for residents and local governments throughout northeastern Ohio counties that sustained storm and flood damage July 21, 22 and 27.

Flooding victims in Trumbull County are eligible for both state and federal aid under the federal disaster declaration.

Representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency will be traveling throughout the devastated counties for the remainder of the week.

Residents with damage are urged to call FEMA at 1-800-621-3362 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday to get started with the application process.

FEMA offers housing assistance, rental help for temporary units or manufactured homes, home repair grants and grants that can be used for dental, medical, funeral, transportation and other disaster-related expenses.
