First arts, heritage
festival
set for weekend

Local entertainers, nationally-recognized artists and community activities are in store at the inaugural New Wilmington Community Arts and Heritage Festival Friday through Sunday.

The festival is presented by New Wilmington Area Chamber of Commerce; Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts, New Castle; and Westminster College, New Wilmington.

Activities will extend from Market Street onto the Westminster campus.

Planned are a juried art show, fine art displays, an artist studio, musical and theater performances, bike races, food booths, children's art area, countryside tours and heritage displays.

Three nationally-known artists will appear at Village Gallery:

   » Robert Griffing, who paints 18th century scenes that involve the Eastern Woodland Indian, 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
