Students rhyme for a reason

By Larissa Theodore
Herald Staff Writer

Brittany Moore, 16, is quite the spit poet and can spit about 70 words per minute, a rare talent not many poets hold bragging rights to.

Spit poetry is her personal style. Everybody has their own, she said, it's just that hers requires listeners to be more attentive, or they may not be able to keep up. Sometimes people can't keep up, she said.

"That's what I'm good at. If you have a talent, you should do it. It's natural to me. I just get up and spit. It's the only way I can get myself out there," she said.

The Farrell High School junior has been writing poetry ever since she was a tot and describes her style as "deep." She maintains notebook after notebook of poetry books and just recently started managing a new one.
