Wheatland council moved ahead Wednesday on plans to repair borough streets, but held off on applying for a state grant to install sidewalks until more information is available. Council awarded a $9,850 contract to Martuccio Paving Inc., Hermitage, to tar and chip upper Canal and Orchard streets, Vaughn Avenue, and Morton Street from Chestnut Street to Broadway Avenue. The work should be completed by Sept. 15, council said. Donald Stinedurf, vice president, said the borough fixes roads once a year. Council will let the street department decide which should be fixed first. |
