Negotiators for United Steelworkers Local 1660 at Wheatland Tube Co. are not being paid for their union duties during the current strike.

In response to a question posed on The Herald's Opinion page Saturday, Dominic Vadala, chief negotiator for the union, said, "We are in the same situation as the rest of the union members."

Connie Munger, wife of local union President Michael Munger, said that because of the time bargainers put in on their union duties, some of the officers and negotiators can't take part-time jobs to help make ends meet like some members of the union have done.
