Girls' new project aids library

By Larissa Theodore
Herald Staff Writer

Last year, eight girls from the West Middlesex area made a difference in an elderly woman's life.

Every week they would assemble in the Pulaski Township home of Rosemarie Murcko where they created and decorated paper dolls. The items were sold at the VFW flea market in West Middlesex, and the girls accumulated enough money to help pay for an elderly woman's prescriptions for three months.

The girls, who range in age from 9 to 14, are continuing their efforts this year by selling beauty bugs -- beads on bobby pins that look like bugs -- ankle bracelets and handmade, signed greeting cards,

The profits, which are nearing $450, will go toward the purchase of hardback books for the new library at Oakview Elementary School in West Middlesex.
