High school, college bands to perform at Kennywood

Four Mercer County high school bands and a college band will perform during the Fall Fantasy Parades that run Tuesday through Sept. 7 at Kennywood Park, West Mifflin.

Greenville High School band will play Friday, and Mercer's band has been booked for Aug. 17. Sharpsville's band marches Aug. 23, and Sharon's band lines up Aug. 25.

Grove City College's band joins in the fun Aug. 24.

The parades get under way at 8 p.m.

This year's theme is "Fairy Tales on Parade" and floats include "The Little Engine that Could," "Pinocchio," "The Old Lady in the Shoe" and "Cinderella."

Costumed characters accompany the floats, and Santa Claus takes a break from his winter preparations to end the parade.
