By Amanda Smith-Teutsch Herald Staff Writer Family members of Roger Pratt will return to Greenville Tuesday to canvass for signatures against the parole of one of the people convicted in connection with Pratt's kidnapping and murder. Because of letters written to the Ohio Parole Board in support of Michael Swiger's early release from prison, Swiger will have a parole hearing Sept. 10 or 11, said Michael Pratt, the victim's brother. "We had earlier heard he was not up for parole until 2008," Pratt said. Roger "Butch" Pratt's body was found in a shallow grave in Jamestown in the fall of 1989. Authorities say he was killed in April 1988 by brothers Edward and Michael Swiger to keep him from talking about robberies at Thiel College fraternity houses and information he may have had about a fire the Swigers set at the Old Town Furniture Store in Greenville. Edward Swiger and Roger Pratt were fraternity brothers. |
