Rates go up today for Reynolds Water Co. customers. The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission approved a settlement last week allowing Reynolds Water Co. to substantially increase its rates by 33.4 percent. Reynolds Water had previously requested a 46.8 percent rate increase to start Feb. 16. The company last raised rates in 1998, when bills rose 16 percent. The 33.4 percent hike means residential customers using 11,000 gallons of water will see their bills increase to $80 a quarter from $60 a quarter. Commercial customers using 2,000 gallons will see their bills rise from $23 to $27 a quarter, and industrial customers using 209,000 gallons will see their quarterly bills go from $872 to $1,160. |
