Pool-repair levy
placed on ballot

After an extended period of sometimes intense discourse, board members of Hubbard Exempted Village School District voted 3-2 to put an emergency levy on the November ballot.

The only board members to cast nay votes were John Murphy and Bob Toth.

The pool is operating at a $210,000 deficit and the emergency levy is needed for pool repairs and operations, said Superintendent James Herrholtz.

The one thing all board members seemed to agree on was that they all want the pool, which was originally intended to be shared by the community, to be reconditioned.

The community pool, which is housed in a building between Reed Middle School and the high school, was opened in the early 1970s, has never had its pump replaced and dehumidifiers haven't worked properly for more than a decade, Herrholtz said.
