Some visitors to Victorian Days in Mercer may have gotten a little more than they were looking for when a Pittsburgh man allegedly exposed himself after arguing with a couple holding a puppet show for kids on July 20.

Barry L. Ralph, 60, who also calls himself "reverend" according to court documents, was charged by Mercer police with indecent exposure, harassment and disorderly conduct.

According to the affidavit: Ralph set up a tent on the west side of the courthouse. Nearby, Carl and Melanie Cramer of Norton, Ohio, were holding a puppet show. Police received a call that Mrs. Cramer was being harassed. When they arrived, they were told that Ralph had unzipped his pants and exposed himself to Mrs. Cramer, her husband and some surrounding people and used obscene language.

According to a Mercer resident, who did not want to be named but said he was walking by the puppet show during the alleged altercation, "The preacher at the puppet show was overdoing it. He had turned his puppet show into preaching and he was really getting carried away with his preaching, making all kinds of comments about government and not having God in the schools," he said. He said he watched Cramer chase Ralph away from the puppet show, yelling that Ralph was a heathen and blasphemous.

"(Cramer) was worse than the guy who was harassing them," he said, adding that he didn't see Ralph expose himself.

Ralph is free on $10,000 bond pending a hearing Friday. According to court documents, Ralph said he had been convicted of indecent exposure and a disorderly conduct charge in November in Allegheny County.

The Cramers did not return phone calls.
