Accused shooter returned
to face homicide charge

Michael Anthony Rogers is back in Mercer County.

The 29-year-old Farrell man, accused by police of shooting Elliott Andre Campbell to death outside a Sharon bar, was returned to Mercer County early Thursday.

Rogers was arrested by Sharon police at Mercer County Jail and arraigned on a homicide charge before District Justice James E. McMahon, Sharon. He was returned to the jail without bond.

Police had received information that Rogers was hiding in Greenville, Miss. Police there arrested Rogers and held him until the Mercer County Sheriff's Department could arrange for transportation to bring Rogers back.

Rogers' preliminary hearing is set for 2 p.m. Thursday before McMahon.

The shooting occurred June 16 outside Styles Restaurant & Lounge, 396 E. Budd St. Police said Rogers and Campbell, 27, whose last known address was 300 Orange Drive, Hermitage, were involved in some kind of fight inside the bar that moved into the parking lot, where Rogers fired several shots at Campbell. One shot hit Campbell in the torso and he was pronounced dead about an hour later in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System, police said.
