Customers of the Salvation Army's thrift shop will find the store relocated after Friday.

The store, which is currently located at the back of the building on Fisher Hill in Sharon, will be moved to the front of the building, Major Ted Slye said.

Friday will be the last day in the back hall, and the new location will be open Sept. 8, Slye said. Customers will use the existing parking lot at the front of the building and will be able to enter the store directly from the parking lot, he added.

Moving the store alleviates the problem of parking on Fisher Hill and the sign for the store which some neighbors objected, Slye said.

In January representatives from the Salvation Army had to appear before Sharon's zoning board so the board could determine if the thrift store violated zoning codes. The Salvation Army was given permission to keep the store open.

The Salvation Army did have to hire a contractor to make some renovations to two rooms in the front hall of the building and install new doors, Slye said. He said some excavation was needed for storage containers.
