Shooter was a 'good boy'
but 'different,' mother says

Ashtabula Star-Beacon

CHERRY VALLEY, Ohio -- Richard Shadle suffered with severe pain for five years, his mother Rosalie Shadle said Tuesday.

He said he would die before having his leg removed, she said. Shadle, 32, is believed to have killed himself Tuesday morning after shooting fellow workers at Andover Industries. One other person was killed and two others were wounded.

She said her son had a learning disability.

"We should have put him through Happy Hearts School, but we struggled to keep him in regular public school, thinking that was best at the time.
