A preliminary hearing for a Farrell man accused of shooting and killing another man was rescheduled Thursday. Michael Anthony Rogers, 29, asked District Justice James E. McMahon for more time to get an attorney. Rogers said he wants to hire a private attorney instead of being represented by a public defender. McMahon rescheduled the hearing for 2 p.m. Sept. 11. He told Rogers he would have a court-appointed attorney ready in case Rogers doesn't have an attorney. Assistant District Attorney David Ristvey said he was prepared to go forward with the case but would agree to a continuance as long as Rogers understands the legal process "can't wait forever." |
