A farm in Coolspring Township not only claims the title of a working demonstration farm that's dedicated to agriculture and ecology education, according to manager Jim Mondok, but it now can claim that it's an award-winning farm.

Munnell Run Farm Foundation, Inc., which encompasses Munnell Run Farm, was recently notified that it received the 2003 Governor's Award for Environmental Excellence in the education and outreach category. Munnell Run Farm includes the Mercer County Conservation District office.

"I think the statewide recognition is really good. I think that will lend some credence to what we're trying to do to promote the education of children and adults and showing the interconnection between agriculture and ecology," said Mondok, manager of the Mercer County Conservation District. "I felt that all of our 15 years of work has been validated by receiving the award."
