at midpoint in state ratings By Patrecka F. Adams Herald Staff Writer
Ohio schools are progressing well, but not all students' needs are being met. That's according to Dr. Susan Tave Zelman, the state's superintendent of public instruction, who said in a news release, "While I'm gratified for the improvement we are seeing, the results show that not all of our children are achieving at high levels." This is the first year that individual schools in the state received one of five designations: excellent, effective, continuous improvement, academic watch or academic emergency. Brookfield's Addison Elementary, Brookfield Middle, Brookfield Elementary and Stevenson Elementary all received continuous improvement designations. The district as a whole also received the continuous improvement rating, which is based on two standards: whether the district has made adequate yearly progress and whether it has met all state indicators. |
