Mother Gina Maria Amico, delegate general of the Franciscan Sisters of St. Elizabeth, celebrated her Golden Jubilee with a Mass Sunday in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 601 Roemer Boulevard. Family, relatives and friends gathered for the celebration of the Holy Eucharist followed by a reception. Amelia Jean Amico, daughter of the late Joseph Amico and Josephine Scarmack of Farrell, joined the Franciscan Sisters of St. Elizabeth at age 16 on Sept. 8, 1952, in Logansport, Ind. She became a novice on June 23, 1953, and made her first profession of vows June 24, 1954. Amelia was given the name Sister Gina Maria of Saint Joseph, named after the late Monsignor Gino Monti, pastor of St. Anthony of Padua Church, which later became Our Lady of Fatima. |
