By Joe Pinchot Herald Staff Writer A Hermitage woman has been charged with homicide by vehicle and other offenses for causing the death of Brandee M. Simpson in a July 25 traffic crash, police said. Susan A. Mendonca, 18, of 150 Todd Ave., also was charged Thursday with involuntary manslaughter and running the stop signs and the flashing red signal at Lamor and North Neshannock roads, where the crash occurred. Ms. Mendonca has not been arrested and police said it was possible she would turn herself in. Ms. Simpson, 19, of 612 N. Water Ave., Sharon, was fatally injured in the crash at about 7 p.m., police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:21 p.m. and died of head trauma, said Mercer County Coroner J. Bradley McGonigle III. Ms. Mendonca, who was driving, didn't stop for the flashing signal and stop signs while eastbound on Lamor, police said. Her car was hit broadside by a pickup driven by Keith Osborne, 49, of New Castle, which was southbound on Neshannock, police said. |
