Matt Reagle was pretty sure that he wanted to study computer science in college.

But, after attending a technology program held by the National Youth Leadership Forum on technology, he's become interested in nanotechnology. Now he's not sure what he wants to study.

"Not only did it teach us stuff about it (computer technology) but it showed us how much of it there is," said Matt, a Hickory High School senior. "Now I know there's so much more to do."

Matt, 17, and David Crowley, 18, also a Hickory High senior, attended the July 27-Aug. 5 forum in San Jose, Calif.

NYLF is a non-profit group based in Washington that aims to prepare young people for professional careers.

The two said they heard speakers such as Dr. Craig Barrett, chief executive officer of Intel Corp., and Dr. Vance Coffman, chairman and CEO of Lockheed Martin Corp., talk about how they succeeded and they attended workshops on aspects of computer technology and spent time in computer laboratories with some of the other 1,500 attendees.
