By Tina Horner After a summer of being sent to the crate as the human part of the family heads out for fun and adventure, every dog -- at least in this area -- will have his day. That day will come Saturday, when Lyon's Den Inc., a Slippery Rock dog rescue organization, hosts a canine carnival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Grove City Memorial Park. Dogs are invited to let their owners tag along -- leashed of course -- to watch as they prance in the pet parade, or carry the cash for treats. Rover can sit and watch while his canine companions show off their skills at a 1:30 p.m. talent show. Beth Meals, assistant director of Lyon's Den, wanted to have the carnival so that people could see there are other means of getting dogs rather than from a pet store or breeder. She and Lyon's Den director and founder Karie Lyons also wanted it to be a day of fun, education and opportunity. |
