Thoughts of a Shenango Township man are alive and well as his friends and family plan to help others in his memory. Isaac "Zeek" Young would have been 26 years old Tuesday if he had not passed away two years ago from Hodgkin's disease. Young was diagnosed with the cancer in March 2000 and died in April 2001. Those who loved him are celebrating his birthday from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday with a cut-a-thon at Sunny Cuts in West Middlesex. Young's friend, Brad Campbell of West Middlesex, organized the event. The proceeds of all haircuts will go to the American Cancer Society in Young's name. Also, anyone who donates at least 10 inches of hair to Locks of Love -- which uses donated hair to make wigs for children living with cancer -- will get a free haircut. Campbell said he got the idea for the cut-a-thon 2èyears ago and began growing his hair then. |
