Ex-CFO at Kirila admits theft, money laundering

Robert "R.P." Mild, 36, of 7090 Stewart-Sharon Road, Brookfield, pleaded guilty Thursday before Trumbull County Judge Andrew Logan to amended charges of aggravated theft, money laundering and attempted money laundering, according to a court clerk.

Mild will be sentenced later.

Mild, who had worked as a chief financial officer for Kirila Contractors for a decade, was fired on unrelated reasons in August 2002, according to earlier stories.

After Mild was fired, accountants at Kirila audited financial records and found serious discrepancies and more than $600,000 in missing money, according to earlier reports.

In September 2002, an Ohio grand jury indicted Mild on 21 charges, including forgery, 17 counts of money laundering and three counts of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, claiming that between July 1999 and August 2002, Mild stole more than $100,000 from his former employers, according to court documents.
