By Patrecka F. Adams Herald Staff Writer Hubbard Township trustees said Monday they want to explore the idea of merging the township and city police departments, but the ball isn't rolling just yet. Trustee Joseph Gleydura said officials from the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police met for four hours Aug. 27 with township and city police chiefs to "explain ... what we're looking for." Gleydura said no other departments that have two differing types of government have merged in Ohio, which makes it necessary to sort out any legalities involved. "One of the reasons we're looking at it is because of the costs we spend for both departments," Gleydura said. |
