On Monday Dave Fockler will no longer be Mercer's acting police chief. He'll just be police chief. Mercer council voted unanimously to have Fockler take over where Chief Frank Detelich will leave off, when he officially retires Monday. Fockler, who is from West Middlesex, has been with the force 12 years. His salary will continue at $16.35 an hour, but he will receive an additional $5,000 a year for his role as chief. He has said that he would like to see the police get even more involved with the community. |
