A Plain Grove Township man was arrested after a six-hour standoff Tuesday at his Lawrence County home, police said.

Frederick R. Brown, 60, of 284 Freemore Lane, was charged with making terroristic threats, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment, police said.

According to state police:

Brown and a 51-year-old woman argued at Brown's mobile home at about 2 p.m. and he threatened to kill her with a gun. She ran into nearby woods and called police on a cell phone. Police picked her up unharmed on a nearby road.

Brown barricaded himself inside with several loaded guns and refused to come out. Members of the state police Special Emergency Response Team began negotiations with Brown at about 5 p.m. He refused to surrender until the team lobbed tear gas into the home at about 10 p.m. No shots were fired. After he was taken into custody, police confiscated several loaded handguns and rifles from the residence.
