in alleged carjacking Additional charges may be filed against a juvenile who police said led them on a two-day pursuit through several townships in Mahoning and Trumbull counties, Boardman detective Capt. Jack Nichols said Wednesday. Nichols gave this account: The incident began at about 2 a.m. Monday when a woman who was returning to her home near Mathews Road was approached by two males wearing hooded sweatshirts and rubber gloves. The males touched her under her clothing before whacking her in the head with a gun. The males jumped in her car and took off, and the woman called for help. A short time later, a policeman spotted the car and a pursuit began, exceeding 90 mph. The policeman discontinued the chase after the driver blatantly sped through several major intersections. Police spent all of Tuesday trying to track down the car, forwarding information to Youngstown police. A Youngstown policeman spotted the car on the north side of the city and began chasing it. The pursuit wound through Youngstown, Liberty and Girard, before ending up in Hubbard near Raymond Drive. The 17-year-old driver was apprehended and charged with aggravated robbery. |
