A Mercer-area woman has been charged with embezzling from the bank where she worked as a teller.

Lindalee M. Stadtfeld, 37, of 7244 Lamor Road has been charged with theft for taking $4,167 from her cash drawer at Citizens Bank in Giant Eagle, 2357 E. State St., Hermitage, police said.

She took $2,065 on July 1 and $2,101 on July 22 to pay doctor's bills, make car payments and for cash advances, police said.

She turned herself in and was arraigned Thursday by District Justice Henry J. Russo, Hermitage, who released her on her own recognizance.

A preliminary hearing is set for 9:30 a.m. Sept. 24.
