Two forgo hearings
in sex assault killing

By Larissa Theodore
Herald Staff Writer

A woman accused of killing a man she said kidnapped her and forced her to perform sex acts, waived her preliminary hearing to Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.

Dressed in county blue, Lisa Cogar, 37, of Warren, Ohio, stood before Judge Ronald Rice on Tuesday as her lawyer asked that the case be heard by a grand jury.

Ms. Cogar, who had pleaded not guilty at arraignment Thursday, was taken back to the county jail after failing to post $100,000 bond.

After she was escorted out of the courtroom, one of her accused abductors, Tim Williams, 33, of Kinsman was led in. Williams also asked for a hearing before a grand jury on the advice of his lawyer. Rice waived Williams' case as well.

Ms. Cogar and Williams face serious charges after the two were allegedly involved in an incident last week that left Brock Engle, 26, of Johnston, Ohio, lying dead off state Route 87 near Kinsman.

Ms. Cogar told police last week that Engle and Williams abducted her in Warren, drove to an unknown location in the Kinsman area and forced her to perform sex acts.
