Hermitage school directors are considering requiring the top candidates for school district jobs to pass a drug test before they can start work. The board unveiled the proposed policy Monday and could vote on it Oct. 20. Officials said there have been no drug problems among staff that prompted the policy discussion. "It's another procedural safeguard," explained Superintendent Karen A. Ionta. Board President Duane J. Piccirilli said he believes such a policy is important when adults are working with young people. "We think our staff should be role models," he said. |
