A preliminary hearing was continued for a Volant area man accused of assaulting a woman and holding police at bay for nearly eight hours earlier this month.

Frederick R. Brown, 60, of 284 Freemore Lane, Plain Grove Township was arrested Sept. 9 at his Lawrence County home.

Brown was charged with aggravated and simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, making terroristic threats and harassment.
