Teachers, staff realigned,
but numbers unchanged

By Larissa Theodore

Reynolds school directors accepted several resignations Wednesday and realigned some of its teachers.

The alignments have nothing to do with new hires, said Superintendent Dr. Anthony Trosan, who wanted to make clear that the district's employee numbers haven't increased.

Trosan said some people have been confused about recent hirings and are under the impression the district is bringing in new people. Two years ago, the district had 237 employees, but now has 199 and plans are to keep it at that level, Trosan said.

The board is somewhat comfortable with current class sizes so any hires are replacements to maintain staffing levels, he said.

The board Wednesday approved the retroactive resignation of elementary teacher Donna Frye, effective Aug. 22. Also resigning were: Lisa Burns, a transportation aide, and Cathy Anderson, a furloughed teacher's aide and substitute teacher aide.
