A Farrell man, who was shot at 9:24 p.m. Thursday while walking across Roemer Boulevard, has been treated and released from the hospital, police said.

Fred Odem, 42, was treated at UPMC Horizon in Farrell after police said he was shot in the left thigh by Alfred A. Griffin, 29, of Youngstown.

Odem was crossing the street in front of Roamers Bar, 204 Roemer Blvd., when he walked in front of the car in which Griffin was riding. When the car stopped, Griffin shot Odem one time in the thigh, police said.

Griffin was arraigned in connection with the shooting on two counts of aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and carrying a firearm without a license, police said. He was taken to Mercer County Jail after failing to post $50,000 bond.

Jim Hardesty, owner of Roamers, didn't know exactly what transpired outside his establishment Thursday, but said he remembered Odem, a regular customer, at his bar that night.
