An overheated skillet left on the stove caused a fire that damaged a two-story home on Sunday, said Transfer Volunteer Fire Chief Phil Steele. Shortly after 2 p.m., firefighters were called to 642 Crestview Drive, Pymatuning Township. When they arrived, a maintenance worker who was doing lawn work at the home had already extinguished the flames, but there was moderate damage to the kitchen and smoke damage to the rest of the house, Steele said. He said a woman was able to escape uninjured and no one else was home at the time. The fire caused about $10,000 in damage, and the family was able to return to the home, Steele said. The worker, whose name was not readily available, was treated at the scene for minor burns to his hands. ----------sty------> |
