Police credit a Sharon man's arrest to a neighbor's quick thinking and observations during a crime.

A man in the 300 block of State Line Road looked out his window at 2:50 p.m. Friday and saw a man walking around his neighbor's house trying to get in doors and windows, police said. The burglar eventually got into the house through a basement door and emerged a short time later with an armful of belongings, police said.

The neighbor confronted the man, who got into a car and drove away but not before the neighbor got a description of the man, the car and the license plate number, police said.

When police ran the license plate number, it came back to a Sharpsville address. Sharon police, with help from Sharpsville police, said they went to Shenango Street and Walnut Avenue in Sharpsville and waited for the car to arrive.

At 3:31 p.m., Arthur L. Norris, 30, of 805 Baldwin Ave., showed up in the car, which was not his, and the stolen items, including a videogame player and games, were in the trunk, police said.

Norris was charged with burglary, theft and receiving stolen property. He was arraigned before District Justice William L. Fagley, Greenville, and taken to Mercer County Jail after failing to post $10,000 bond. There was also a parole detainer for Norris, police said.

Sharon Capt. Michael Menster said while police don't recommend citizens approach suspects, the neighbor's quick thinking to get a description of the man and a license plate number helped police catch the suspect.
