Officials try to resolve bus-stop concerns

Brookfield School Board members said they don't want to place students' safety in jeopardy, so they are planning to meet to discuss a designated bus stop at Ohio Street and Brookfield Avenue.

Superintendent Joseph White and the transportation supervisor are expected to meet at that area at about 1:30 p.m. today.

"We understand your concerns and we're concerned also," White told parents Wednesday night.

The decision to meet came on the heels of Martha Harvey and Beverly Esmond attending the meeting to voice their concerns that the stop near a mailbox on Brookfield Avenue will become hazardous once winter sets in.

"All we want is a designated bus stop," Ms. Esmond said. "The kids are waiting in three different places.

"When snow flies and plows go by, these kids will be standing on Brookfield Avenue. The stop will no longer exist," she said.
