Although Hermitage has approved plans to build 60 apartments for seniors at Lamor and North Keel Ridge roads, construction won't begin for another year at the earliest. Mercer County Housing Authority, which is developing the 20.09-acre complex, does not have most of the money for the $6 million project. Authority Executive Director L. DeWitt Boosel said Wednesday the authority's main task now will be to apply to the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency for funding. The authority most likely will ask for low-income tax credits. Investors buy the credits, which go toward their federal tax bill. Banks can earn credit toward their requirements under the Community Reinvestment Act. |
