Effective immediately, Brookfield students who used to catch school buses on a gravel area at Ohio Street and Brookfield Avenue must wait near Ann Fraley's mailbox across the street.

Superintendent Joseph White and the transportation supervisor met with residents Thursday afternoon and designated the area near the mailbox as the official stop.

"They're more than willing to let kids stand there," White said of the Fraleys.

White said gravel will be put on the ground near that mailbox and during the winter, maintenance crews will plow that area so that students won't have to wait near piles of snow.

"Parents and kids can wait there," White said. "This is the stop."

White assured Martha Harvey, who had previously complained about the bus driver dropping off children too far from the mailbox, that the problem would be resolved.

"The bus supervisor will make sure the bus drivers will stop there," White said. "From elementary, to middle and high school -- that stop is for all students."
