A Hermitage woman charged in the traffic death of Brandee M. Simpson has allowed charges to proceed to Mercer County Common Pleas Court.

Randall Hetrick, the attorney for Susan A. Mendonca, 18, of 150 Todd Ave., signed a stipulation at a preliminary hearing Friday that a crime occurred and she might have been involved.

Ms. Mendonca has been charged with homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter and running the stop signs and the flashing red signal at Lamor and North Neshannock roads in Hermitage, where the crash occurred.

Ms. Simpson, 19, of 612 N. Water Ave., Sharon, was fatally injured in the crash at about 7 p.m., police said.

Ms. Mendonca, who was driving, didn't stop for the flashing signal and stop signs while eastbound on Lamor, police said. Her car was hit broadside by a pickup driven by Keith Osborne, 49, of New Castle, which was southbound on Neshannock, police said.
