Westminster grad's book recounts Catholic school days

By Patrecka F. Adams

Valentine J. Brkich fondly remembers the eight years he spent attending Catholic school.

The 28-year-old author decided to share those special memories with the world in his first novel -- a 215-page story titled "Cageball, Poker and the Atomic Wedgie."

"I wanted to include all these stories somehow and wasn't sure how to do it," Brkich said. "I thought the easiest way was to write and include all my memories in the story."

The author, who hails from Brighton Township, Beaver County -- and who is a brother of former Survivor cast member Amber Brkich -- said the book started out as his senior paper at Westminster College in New Wilmington in 1996.

Brkich completed the 60-page paper and titled it "Tales from Sts. Peter and Paul." The paper garnered him accolades from his professors -- as well as an A-.
