A Farrell woman is to appear in Mercer County Common Pleas Court on charges stemming from an incident in which she allegedly bit a woman and then claimed to be HIV positive.

At a preliminary hearing Tuesday, District Justice William L. Fagley of Greenville -- who sat in for District Justice James E. McMahon in Sharon -- held all charges to court. Lena Y. McFadden, also known as Lena Y. Mayes Henderson, 34, of 1030 Hamilton Ave., is accused of aggravated and simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, making terroristic threats, robbery, theft and disorderly conduct.

Dana Crisan of Sharon testified that on Sept. 14 she was entering the Side Pocket Cafe on Silver Street in Sharon when she was approached by a man she knows as "Alfonso." Ms. Crisan, who is an employee at the bar, said she had lent the man money months earlier, and he showed up that day and said he was going to pay her back.

Ms. Crisan said Alfonso followed her into the bar and watched as she put her personal belongings, including a plastic bag containing about $60 in tip money, behind the bar.

Alfonso said he would come back with her money and left, she said. Six to seven minutes later, Ms. McFadden entered the bar, asked for a bag of chips and, while Ms. Crisan was turned around, reached over the bar, grabbed the bag of tip money and tried to run out, Ms. Crisan said.
