Fatal
crash being probed

A Lawrence County man was killed early Friday when the car he was driving crashed into an embankment and a telephone pole, Pulaski Township Police Chief James B. Morris said.

Mark Manos, 39, of Sankey Lane, Neshannock Township, was pronounced dead at the scene by Lawrence County Coroner Russell Noga.

According to Morris, who got the call at 12:42 a.m., Manos was westbound on state Route 208. He had just crossed the bridge over the Shenango River where the road makes a T with High Hill Road. His car failed to turn either right or left and hit a dirt embankment, then a telephone pole which snapped near the top.

Morris said the crash remains under investigation. "It's not by reason of the intersection. When there are crashes there, it's normally a problem with the weather, but it's not the case that night. There were no weather-related conditions."

Manos leaves a wife, Regina, and four children, Morris said.
