By Sherris Moreira-Byers Herald Staff Writer With a 32-acre sports complex in the works, Springfield Township Planning Commission asked supervisors to approve a planning policy giving them time to fully study any new commercial land developments in the future. Supervisors agreed. On Monday, they decided that all developers must submit a concept plan, a preliminary plan and a final plan before getting approval from the planning commission. "Typically we asked for just a final plan, unless it was something large. Larger plans typically submitted a preliminary plan first," said township administrator Barb Brown. "Now the first thing they would present to the planning commission is a concept plan, which could be as fancy as an architect's rendering or as simple as notepaper with sketches and numbers, distances, dimensions, those sorts of things." She said planning commission members wanted more time to thoroughly review a plan and think about the kinds of questions they should ask. |
