Trio of political forums scheduled

The League of Women Voters of Mercer County, Grove City College and Penn State Shenango have scheduled three forums for candidates for the offices of judge of Common Pleas and Mercer County commissioner.

   » The first event is at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Sticht Auditorium, located in the Hall of Arts and Letters on the Grove City College campus. Christopher St. John, John C. Reed and Stephen J. Mirizio, candidates for judge of Common Pleas, will answer questions posed by the moderator, Dr. Michael Coulter, a Grove City College professor.

   » Penn State Shenango will present a candidates forum at 6:30 p.m., Oct. 19 in the school's cafeteria. Candidates for judge of Common Pleas and county commissioner will be present to meet the public.

The forum, featuring county commissioner candidates Brian Beader, Olivia M. Lazor, Michele Brooks, George Pokrant and Daniel Berent, will begin at 7 p.m. League member Ann Becker will be the moderator.

   » Grove City College will also host a second forum, at 7 p.m. Oct. 20 in Sticht Auditorium, featuring the candidates for county commissioner. Coulter will moderate the event.

Both Grove City College events will be filmed by Armstrong Cable and air from Oct. 27 to Nov. 3. Other cable stations are considering the broadcasts as well, and audio recordings of the events will be sent to area radio stations.
