will be replaced By Lauri Galentine Herald Writer After almost four years of legal hassles, the borough of Stoneboro will finally be able to replace its failing water line. Work is scheduled to begin Oct. 20 on the replacement of a half mile of 8-inch pipe, a section of the borough's main water line, that crosses the abandoned railroad property near the north end of town. Council President Fred Houser said it will take two days to flatten the road bed before work can begin on the line replacement. The line that runs between the springs, the town's main water supply, and the borough reservoir, broke in three places just before Christmas 1999, according to Houser. After doing temporary repairs on the line that was originally installed in 1939, borough officials set out to replace it, but ran into a few snags. |
