Consumers Water Co. said Thursday it was centralizing a part of the utility's operation and moving two employees from the Sharon office to the company's Struthers Division call center.

The Sharon office of Consumers Pennsylvania Water Co. Shenango Valley Division will remain open to oversee local operations. The office will continue to accept utility payments until other multiple payments sites in the area have been established, said Walter "Buzz'' Pishkur, president of Consumers Ohio and Pennsylvania units. The payment sites will probably be in partnership with another business or organization.

One of those sites will be in Sharon, Pishkur said.

"No one is losing their job as a result of this,'' he added. "We're not taking away on-site payments. "We're actually expanding that capability.''

Utility customers will continue to use the same telephone numbers to the call station.
